This weekend the Oregon Breeze were in Salem for the Oregon Panther Easton Envite April 24 & 25th.
This weekend was rough for the girls, especially Paityn for some reason. She was on base quite a bit, but wasn't allowed to play and grow in her position that much. The girls have a weekend off, so hopefully they can all bond and take a little break...
After there "pool play" on Saturday they were place in the "Silver Bracket". We won our first game Sunday morning, but lost our second to a second year 12A HiVoltage team out of Salem. We ended up taking 2nd place in the "Silver Bracket".
Maddux had a great weekend as normal.... The tournament was held at Wallace Marine in Salem. There are 5 fields and in the center of them all is a large concession stand and also a playground that is covered with netting, so "faul balls" can't reach the kids!!!

Newberg 8U Rec Softball Team....
Paityn has been helping her cousin's 8U rec. softball team. She has been going out and supporting her cousin and all of the other teammates on the team. Paityn has had a lot of fun and wants to see the sport grow in Newberg.
The first time Paityn walked uo to there practice all the girls yelled..."Paityn" and then proceeded to ask, "are you on our team"? She coutiously answered, "no, I'm just here to help".
GO FUNKY MONKEYS!!!!

Medford "Black Tornado" Softball Tournament
April 17 & 18th we traveled south to Medford for the girls 1st 12A tournament
I knew this was not going to be an easy trip for the Willoughby family. Paul was not able to go with us, he had to stay back home and work. Paul's hours have changed again....he is now off monday and Tuesday working Wednesday thru Sunday, it gets worse....on swing shift!!!
So me and the kids took off Friday about 12:30 PM (I got Paityn out of school a little early that day). We had a fun trip down to Medford. We stopped at Rice Hill to get ice cream and stretch our legs and then back on the road again. The total trip was about 4 1/2 hours. We checked into the hotel and hit the pool. Well the kids did at least, not me. We went to dinner and then back to the hotel for a "Team Bonding" activity. All the girls made hair ribbons. At least our team looks good on the field!!!!
Saturday the girls played three games and went 1-2. Not a great start, but the two games we lost were close. Saturday evening we didn't let the girls swim as much and they were all in their rooms much earlier than the evening before.
Sunday the rules were as soon as you lose one game, you are out of the tournament. I guess our girls wanted to stay "All DAY". The girls ended up playing three games and won the tournament. 1ST PLACE!!!!!
Paityn got a hit in every game she played except one, she only struck out 4 times all weekend. She played 2nd base most of the tournament and was a "vaccuum". She didn't have any errors and made some pretty nice plays. Her backhand is looking really nice!!!
Maddux was such a trooper this entire weekend. The US Cellular Park in Medford is a newer park. The fileds are completely made out of turf. There are 5 fields and in the center of them all is a Subway snack shack with a large playground behind. So guess where Maddux was the entire weekend?
Maddux was a little hungry, he just decided it was easier to eat out of the icechest!!!

Newberg Softball Tournament
April 10-11, 2010 was the first softball tournament that Paityn played in this year.
I was excited to hear that Paityn’s softball team was going to play in Newberg for three reasons…..
1. it is close to our house
2. it is close to our house
3. it is close to our house
Paityn is on a 12A team and the team is comprised of elite athletes from all over the Northwest and is made up of all 11 year old girls that are competing against primarily 12 year old teams. This weekend we were competing at the 14A level. This alone would make any player nervous, but to add on top of that , we were playing in Newberg, Paityn was extra nervous. Saturday she had a rough day at the plate, but played great defensively. Paityn normally plays 2nd base. After Saturday’s games we were scheduled to play the Newberg 14 team first thing Sunday morning. One of our neighbors are that team and she would start the game by pitching. The final score was 15-0 us!!!! Paityn finished the day with a stand-up triple and 2 RBI’s to complete the tournament. That made her weekend!!!

Easter 2010
Easter is the greatest feast day in the Christian calendar and celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Willoughby Easter was a little rushed, but still nice this year!!!!
I had been fighting bronchitis for over a month when Easter came around this year. I was SUPER busy at work and so run down from taking Paityn to softball every night of the week.
My mom and dad were able to come up on Saturday which was so nice….That gave me the opportunity to run to the grocery store to pick up food for Easter Sunday dinner and also get basket items for the kids. I am usually so prepared when it come to holidays, but this year have been running so far behind on everything!!!
Saturday evening the kids and I dyed some Easter eggs and later that evening when they fell asleep I was able to get their baskets all put together along with Paul’s (of course). My mom and dad helped me hide over 80 plastic eggs which had candy and money in all of them. When Paul got home that evening from work, (about 11:00 PM) he helped me hide the colored eggs. That is usually his job in the morning, but we just figured it would be easier to get everything completed the night before. We also usually hide eggs outside, but since we have been up here in Oregon have been unable to do that. The rain usually puts a stop to that!!!
Easter Sunday morning came to fast. The kids woke us all up very early, but who isn’t excited about Easter?
They first went through their baskets, digging, dumping, and filling their cheeks with delicious candy!!!!
Once the baskets were empty they both began finding eggs all over the house. Paityn is getting older so we had to hide some really good this year for her. The last egg was found about 11:30 AM. We were all pretty happy with our hiding abilities.
Paul had to leave for work, which really sucked
Mom, Dad, Paityn, Maddux, and I had a wonderful meal with plenty of leftovers…..
