Our Sweet Baby Boy is 5!!!
I honestly can’t believe how fast the time has gone by. My little man just turned 5 today!!!!
We woke up to a beautiful scene this morning for Maddux’s birthday. Newberg and almost the entire state of Oregon was snowed in. All Newberg schools were closed and that means that mommy doesn’t drive to work!!! I’m truly a California girl when it comes to snow, I choose not to drive in it unless my life or my kids life depends on it. So the kids and I were home with Paul. Maddux opened his present from Paul and I which was a quad. He has wanted one for the last couple of years and Paul was never for it, but something changed his mind and I’m glad it did. We got him the Peg Pergo red quad. He opened it and was super excited. I began to put it together. I would love to be able to invent something that the charger and battery would be separate and that would give you the option to pre-charge the battery. Reason being….as soon as you get the new toy built the kids are all ready to ride it, but on no….you have to charge the battery for 18 hours. So Maddux got to sit on it inside the house…
Paul had to go to work and Paityn had hitting later in the day. Before we left town I stopped by a cute new cupcake shop in town and we all got to pick out a cupcake for dessert. We took Paityn to hitting and then Maddux got to choose where he wanted to go to dinner. He wanted a cheeseburger from Lil Cooperstown. We are going to have another dinner on Sunday for Maddux so Paul can go to that one. That is one bad thing about working swings…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

No Change Yet!!!!
So the last couple of weeks have pretty much been the same as the rest lately.
1. School – Paityn and Maddux
2. Work – Me and Paul
3. 2 nights of Speed and Agility – Paityn
4. 2 nights of hitting practice – Paityn
5. 2 nights of basketball practice – Paityn
6. Weekends full of basketball tourney and softball practice – Paityn
I’m the lucky one driving her around to all the different things she is doing and poor Maddux just gets drug around everywhere.

Maddux’s 5th Birthday Party!!!!
Maddux's 5th Birthday Party!!!! (click to view video)
We had Maddux’s birthday party this last Sunday since his “girlfriend” Lillee was in town from Reno. We couldn’t have a lot of his friends over because of course Paityn had a basketball tournament and we had no idea when it was going to be done. We had a smaller “family and close friends” party for him and he was thrilled. He is not into his parties as much as Paityn was. I think it has a lot to do with the weather also.
Paityn played her first game on Sunday at 11:30 AM in Beaverton and won, YEA!!!! After that game was finished Maddux and I headed out. I took him to lunch, drove to Lafayette to pick up food for his party, and then home to get things set up at the house. I tried to make the rest of the day all about him, since almost every other day is about Paityn.
With tons of help as always from my mom and dad we were able to get everything done before the party started and people started to arrive. Honestly I don’t think it really matters if I have a small party or a huge party. I tend to have the same amount of food and things to prepare for and just as expensive!!!! I knew I wasn’t going to have that much time cooking and getting things ready, so I decided to have a Mexican food theme.
Appetizers
Homemade jalapeƱo poppers
Homemade habanera poppers
Homemade salsa/chips
7 layer dip
Dinner
Carnitas
Rice
Beans
Tortillas
Shrimp salad
Fruit
I also made his cake. I asked him what kind of cake he wanted and he told me chocolate, chocolate, and white chocolate chips. The theme for his party was a “painting theme”, I had to try to think of something that the kids could do indoors…..So I made him a 5 layer (since he was tuning 5) chocolate cake with chocolate frosting with white chocolate chips sprinkled in between each layer. Then we decorated it like a paint can…..I think the word is “TRIED” to decorate it looking like a paint can. Between my dad and I, I think we did a pretty decent job.
The “activity” for the kids was to paint a tile. I also had paper for them to paint on, but it was just way to cold to be out in the garage for that long of time and I don’t think the paint would have dried. As it is, the paint on some of the tiles are a little wet.
Overall the party was a hit and most importantly Maddux had a great party!!!!
