The Panther girls were excited to travel to California for their next National Qualifier….
Even though The Panther’s have already qualified for National’s the team decided to travel to Redding and play. This would be the first time the team would face California teams the entire year and give them a warm up for National’s in August.
Paityn and I were excited because we would “hopefully” see Danny and Judy!!!
We left Friday morning and drove into Redding about 3:00 PM later that day. The drive went relatively quick and no major issues. We stopped a few times:
1. Eugene – to drop Maddux off at my mom and dad’s home.
2. Rice Hill – for a quick burger and ice cream
3. Ashland – gas

4. The Oregon/California border to take a couple photos

The temperature was about 40 degrees different from Newberg to Redding. First of all it was raining in the morning when we left and continued to rain all the way to the border. Once we were in California the sun was out and warmed up quickly. My thermometer kept raising in my car.
Saturday – The girls had a “first round bye” so we didn’t have to be at the fields until 9:00 AM. The girls ended up losing their first game to the Capital Comets 5-3. The second game started at 4:00 PM so we had lunch and were able to visit with Ava & Papa. We ended up winning the second game 9-1. Not bad, 1-1 for the day.
Sunday – We had a little earlier start….The girls had to be at the fields at 7:00 AM for a 9:00AM game. We played Gold Rush and beat them pretty easily. Now we had a game break to determine who we played next….and again we played Capital City Comets. We knew the girls could beat this team. The first game was a little rough and they made quite a few throwing errors. Once again they beat us, so that meant we were done for the day and ended up taking 3rd.
